Clay Animation Storyboards. Storyboarding is the process of producing sketches of shots from a script. It is a graphical representation of the camera shots in a movie, which are connected together to create a sequence. It is similar to a how a comic strip is laid out. The story of the movie is visualized by a series of drawings, which represent the location, characters, props, and settings of each shot. Below the drawing, captions detailing action, camera directions, lighting directions and dialogue are placed. A storyboard enables the moviemaker to visualize the flow of camera shots and sets that the moviemaker wants to capture. The storyboard template will fit on a standard sheet of paper when printed. If the storyboard template does not print out correctly the problem may be with the graphic application being used to print out the storyboard. To correct this problem the printing margins within the application may need to be adjusted. storyboard template file attributes: .gif file Pixels - Width 743 Height 1045 Inches - Width 7.74 Height 10.89 Centimeters - Width 19.60 Height 27.50 A blank template Storyboard sheet can be downloaded and printed out to create Storyboards. Storyboard example sheet. After viewing this storyboard anybody should have enough information to shoot the scene. The notes below each frame are only a guide to what will be shot. They do not need to be extremely detailed so there is no need to spend a lot of time on them. Stick figure characterizations work well for storyboards. The written notes for a storyboard for each frame should contain any items that would be helpful to shoot the scene. Notes such as, Close up and Pan in shot help shorten the time needed to film a scene so when a filmmaker gets to that point in the storyboard it has already been decided how to set the camera up. Storyboards should also be explanatory enough so anybody reading the storyboard can shoot the scene. There is not a standard format on how to make notes for storyboards. The above storyboard format has shot type, scene action, character dialogue in quotes and arrows showing character movement direction. http://www.clayanimator.com
